All right, if we’re going to make any headway, you’ll have to dispense with that faddish nonsense about good and evil being relativistic, about everything being a matter of perspective. Not that perspective isn’t vital - it is, and we’ll go over that in detail in the Relics section when we talk about the Axe of Perspective, the sharpest blade ever honed. But for now, let’s not get bogged down.  Good is good and evil is evil, and you’ll see things branded as such. If you require explanation beyond that, I’m afraid you’ll have a rough go of things.

Now, the people of Alvidan can be grouped into four tiers: gods, demigods, immortals, and mortals. The boundaries, however, are sometimes vague, and it’s not unheard of to find a demigod with more power than a full divinity or to come across a mortal who has the capacity to fray the Immutable Weave. Of course you’ll not meet anyone if you stand around around with your thumbs hooked in your belt.  So come on . . .

To help you get a sense of things, I’ve devised a pair of charts on which you’ll find most of the key figures. These are arranged in hierarchical fashion within each column, beginning with the divinities at top; followed by the demigod(s) who serve them; next, a group encompassing queens, kings, highpriests, and a few immortals; then a number of key protectors; and finally the ones upon whom everything depends, the Children of Grace, Shadow, and Stone, and the Child of the Light. The second details the Dark Lords and their minions. Work your way through both to get a sense of who’s been shaping our history.  Then we can go through things in greater detail if you’d like. .

As you can see, there are a great
many people with roles to play, too many to
meet comfortably in the span of one sitting. So when you’ve
had your fill, I suggest you use the chart below to move us to a less demanding topic . . .

Exploring the World of Alvidan

If you’re up for a more exhaustive introduction to the citizenry, we can work work through the tabs below, going over each of the tiers and those who comprise them.  I’d recommend we start with the gods and work our way down, but as always, it’s up to you . . .
